  • Atlantic Challenge is an annual rowing race from La Gomera (Canary Islands) to Antigua.
  • Entrants can row solo or in pairs, trios, fours or fives
  • The race is 3,000 miles and rowers can be on the ocean for up to 90 days

The Boat

I will be rowing in a Rannoch R25 boat that was built in 2018.  The boat has already completed one Atlantic Crossing with “Grandads of the Atlantic” successfully rowing her across the ocean in 63 days in last years race.  The boat is 24-foot-long (8 metres) and will self-right in the event of a capsize.  It will be equipped with satellite communications, a life raft, medical kit, all the food I need, a water maker that turns salt water to drinking water, solar panels and many more bits and bobs to help me row safely across the ocean.
